Nikon Warranty

Anybody ever had to send a scope back to Nikon for repairs? I bought a 2.5x10-44mm tactical from a guy sight unseen. It came in yesterday and when you look through it, it looks like your looking at an egg. Gonna ship it to Nikon today, just wondering what others experiences with them have been.

I've got two Buckmaster's and happy with both, actually they are identical. No problems with either and nothing that looks as if it's oval shaped if that's what you mean. Hope you get it fixed ok and back soon.

Some years back I had to send a Monarch 3x9 back to them due to non-functioning adjustments. At that time, you had to send proof of purchase and the warranty card with the scope. Understand their policy has changed since then and now is supposed to be a "no questions asked" type warranty. Might want to give their repair center a call before sending, though. A Google search should find it for you.

I called them, they were real helpful, gave me a number to include with shipping, said their warranty covered everything except obvious external damage. The scope is perfect as far as cosmetics, we'll see. I'll let ya'll know what the outcome is.

Update,......................... I received in the mail yesterday a brand new Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x44 Mil Dot scope. Boy was I happy, I have always bought Nikon products and will continue to do so in the future, for sure. If anyone has a problem with one of their products, just call their 800 number and they make things real easy.

Good for you, some people on another board regularly bash Nikon Customer Service. I have a few Monarchs, Binocs, and Nikon cameras, have never had to use their warranty for any reason. Nice to hear they took care of you!

I am glad to hear of your good experience. As a retailer, I have found Nikon difficult to deal with - slow, unresponsive, and disorganized. And I've had customers complain about having to show proof of purchase, etc.

So it is good to know that they have stepped up and begun to back their products without making people jump through a bunch of hoops. Competition from companies like Leupold and Vortex have apparently brought them to their senses.

They have changed their proof of purchase policy. I even made a mistake when I shipped it to them and sent it to the New York plant which does camera stuff only, they called me and said they were shipping it to California where they do sport optics only, they shipped it at no charge, confirmed that it had arrived and then shipped me the new one at no charge. Pretty cool to get a 1300 dollar scope new in the box.

That's good to hear. I have several Nikon scopes and a pair of their binoculars, haven't had any problems with any of them. Nice to know they will be there for you in case something happens.

I know this is an old post but was searching for a review of Nikon's repair and found this. My experience has been mixed so far. It has been over three months ago that I sent a new (just out of the box) ProStaff back to Nikon for repair. The scope would not hold zero. After a couple of weeks I got an email that said "the scope won't hold zero and is being replaced". Well, now over two months have gone by and no new scope. Sending emails do no good as all you get back is the same answer, being replaced. But when? I called and checked via a human and was told that the new scopes were due in the end of January. No scope. Called again and now they are due in at the end of February. So the good news is I get a new scope, the bad news is who knows when.
