Question How To Age My Remington 700 BDL .222 ??

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

Hello,

I have a Remington 700 BDL .222. It has the Monte Carlo stock, raised cheek and checkering on the stock, black tip on the wood at the end of the forearm, etc. It is in very good to excellent+ condition. I do not really know how to "officially" describe it's condition.

I have seen this same/similar gun for sale at gun auctions for $1,000. I'm assuming they are an older model and assumed mine is too. I see they must still be available in the newer models.

How can I find out the age of my gun? Don't know why I figured this, but assumed it was a 70's model. Not sure.

Thanks,

Marksman

Blue Book of Gun Values by S.P.Fjestad contains a section on Remington date codes stamped into the barrel. You would need a copy of this book plus your rifle to determine year and possibly month of manufacture of the barrel. This is based upon the assumption that the barrel is original to the rifle and not a replacement/change.

I couldn't get any info on the info and links provided.

Eventually I learned... and just for added info here, I found out that you can call Remington directly, give them the serial number and they'll tell you the age.
