Question Western Field Rifle Cross Reference

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I'd really appreciate it if someone would tell me what company manufactured the Wardís Western Field .22 SL & LR pump action rifle Ė model # 81-SB508A, Serial # 38866K. Iím in need of a cartridge extractor.

Well.................!

My cross-over list doesn't show a listing for that particular model - jumps from SB300 series to SB600 series.

However, the majority of Western Field firearms were manufactured by Mossberg with just a smattering of Stevens/Savage. I'd try Mossberg on a google search and find out from them if this rifle is one of theirs.

I have no listing for the Model 81, but ALL the SB prefixes listed are Savage/Stevens....

Correct - Mine shows SB's to be Savage, also.

Sorry for omission.

Here's all the SB Series Western Field I could find - a lot of them are shotguns. My guess is either Savage or Stevens made the rifle.

GOOD LUCK!

Thanks for all the replies. Iíve done some searching for this model and have come up empty. Iím sure thereís no mistake reading the make/model info because itís clearly stamped on the rifle. Iíll keep looking.

My Dad acquired this rifle when he joined the Maryland Minutemen back in the WWII days. Itís my understanding that members had to use their own personal weapon. I guess thatís an effective approach to Homeland Security.

A Western Field 832 is the same as a Mossberg 341.

A Western Field M822 is the same as a Mossberg 640K.

That's about as close as I can come to a M832.

The model 19 12 gauge shotgun I bought at an auction is identified as a Western Field Model EY19. Any idea who made this gun?

If you go to Numrich ( e-GunParts.com ) you can check their online cross reference guide. If you want one, pick up one of their catalogs. The brand name to manufacture cross reference is in the back of the catalog.

That was an excellent suggestion, SureShot, but no joy on the cross reference at Numrich. The list skips right over the 19, going from 18 to 20, and there is no model that starts with EY. Perhaps I'll start with Mossberg to see if I can find one of their models that's similar, given that Mossberg made many of the Western Fields for Wards.

Thanks for trying to help.

Jim

when and where was this made

I have a Westernfield M72B, cal 30-30 win, which I got from my father over 25 years ago. I would like to know if I can get parts is necessary. I just fired it last month and it still works well. I would however like to mount a scope on it, but don't know what type of mount would work. Thanks for any information.

According to my crossover listing, the Western Field M72 (no "B") was manufactured by Mossberg and was their model #472PCA.

western field shotgun

Where do you all get this cross reference info. That was cool. I am looking for a cross reference on a .20 gauge western field model 52-sb311-ta. And maybe a ball park value. Anyone have any information. Thank you.

Sorry for this older post but its a savage model 29b made for ward's. (81-SB508A) I have both and the reveicers look the same. This is a 22cal pump rifle that takes shorts, longs and long rifle bullets. The value seems to start around $375.

I'm late as well but this is cool for me. A friend of mine received a Westernfield that was bought at Wards by his dad for his 13teenth birthday in 1968. Price was $68 It's a 30-30 with 20 or 22 inch barrel, bolt action, DM. I shot my first deer with that gun and he hasn't had to adjust the scope on it in decades. He doesn't shoot it much but every time he does he'll check to make sure it's still on and it always is.
