Winchester--Bad News

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

Well, I just got done snooping around Winchester's website. Bad news, looks like they are offering an 1885 Low Wall chambered in 6.5x55 Swede as a Shot Show special. Why is this bad? I'll tell you, as soon as I can locate one I'm going to be about $1200 poorer.

I hate it when that happens

If you want one and can swing it, go for it. All the best...

They've been giving a lot of bad news lately....one of last years SHOT show specials was an M71 and this year in addition to yours, there's also a 257 Roberts in an M70 Featherweight.

$1200 poorer, one rifle richer. Money is a mere possession. A good rifle is something to be admired and treasured.

I saw the Featherweight as well. For years Winchester didn't make anything that could get me to look twice and now they've got me all hot and bothered.

Sounds like a hefty cartridge for a low wall. Arnie

I feel your pain. I've long wanted a Model 70 Super Grade, but as I go through their on-line catalog I'm now finding I need a Model 70 Super Grade 75th Anniversary Edition, a Model 70 Jack O'Conner Custom Tribute, a Model 70 Alaskan Stainless or Extreme Weather, and a Model 71 Deluxe.

Winchester - Bad News

I'm with Arnie. Isn't the low wall a little light for the 6.5 Swede? I thought the Sweded was on step (or actually slightly more powerful than) the 7mm-08. Is the Low Wall safe for this cartridge?

Normally I hate to see an American icon like Winchester go to a non American company like FN, but the new FN Winchesters are some of the finest pieces of art in the gunworld.

If you have a gun dealer you typically deal with contact them or a few others to see if they can get their hands on them. I put money down on one right after the SHOT last year and they still haven't produced them. I believe they will be made by the same company who made the Browning M71 in Japan so I have to wonder if the earthquake last year delayed production. I know I checked with a Browning/Win rep a few months ago and was told they were looking at the November/December time frame and about a month ago I checked with my gun store and was told they should hopefully be getting them shortly. Maybe worth a shot for you to call a few and see if you can get your name on one.

All you guys cry'in about informing the wife about the new gun, just need to quit it and go back and read Pat McMannus and his surefire ways of getting the new guns past his wife.

He has it all figured out and down in black and white, things like the expanding gun cabnet that always has one empty spot.

Come on fellers, put on the Ol'think'in cap! Pat clearly points out that this isn't rocket sci.

Keep em coming!

Yeah. It would be nice if Remington would watch and learn.
