remington 700 .223

i have the remi 700 in .223 but bought the gun as BDL but when i have checked it out i dont think it is as the BDL has black on forend of the stock wich mine was plain dark wood, is there any way to find out what modle it is? can put pic on if someone could tell me how to do it

Does your magazine box have a floor plate on the bottom that pops open with a spring?

thanks cvc944 will try them is that the uk number to call? and yes mjyeagle it pops down and holds 6 rounds

It might be a 700 Classic, they have a plain stock with CUT cherckering not the stamped basket weave pattern, and it had a hinged floor plate. The 700 Classic came out in a different chambering every year, the year of the 223 was 2000. If this is what you got, you did good, the 700 Classics, I beleive are worth more than the BDL's. Check the barrel code and see what year it was made. There will be two letters on the barrel next to the reciever, the first letter is the month, the second letter is the year. If the second letter of the code is a U, it was made in 2000 and I would be willing to bet it is a 700 Classic. I have a 30-06 Classic, I wouldnt take anything for it!! After reading another site, it stated that they quit putting the barrel code on them in 8/09 and then recontinued after 2001, so I geuss the 700 Classic made in 2000, chambered in a 223 wont have a barrel code.

According to the "Blue Book of Gun Values", the coding continues as follows:

It covers all Remingtons, shotguns and rifles.
