New Varmint Load

So, you saw the group with the 300RUM and 110 grain Vmax's at 3720 fps?

Well I loaded up a couple and shot a 1 gallon paint can full of water then I had to share it with you guys so I grabbed the camera and filled another can and

I placed the can upside down to maximize the effect and not blow the lid off.

I fergot to hold low and hit about 1" below the "top" of the can. There was no exit hole, just a small slit where I'm guessing the base of the bullet exited.

Now if there were just some prairie dogs to try it out on!!

I can't wait for a field report either, bein's as how the field is on fire right now.

Craig Daily Press / Wolf Fire swells to 6,100 acres

In the lower left hand corner of the smaller picture you can see part of my prairie dog hunting spot.

Rumor has it that there is a "voluntary ban" on hunting in NW Colorado due to the dry conditions. However there is no ban on shooting things full of water.

Recoil is rather pleasant, like a 165 out of the '06

RJ, I never would have thought such accuracy could be had with such a light-for-caliber bullet coupled with the 300 RUM velocities that can be attained. Load more up for the wolves you'll soon (already) have!

I need to test them out to 400 yards, but if they shoot like the 40's and 58's do they should be impressive.

Wolves? I thought they were just big coyotes. They came to a call just like a coyote . . . . . . . . . . .

My experience in I-duh-ho shows that they die like coyotes also.
My buddy never filled his tag, but he shoots like a screw-ball

Heck your cartridge weighs more than a prairie dog. It should vaporize a dog out to 400yds easy. WOuld be something to see for sure.
