What .22 Ammo do You Like Best
Just wondering what brand of ammo you like to shoot and why.I like CCI the best, but they don't come in bulk,so I like Federal the best for bulk ammo cause the brass is cleanest and they always shoot.I don't like winchester because they are always dirty and corroded and don't chamber well in my single six,and I don't like Remington because they misfire alot or have variences in power alot.

For max power, I like CCI Stinger. Great for use in a 22 auto pistol in bowling pin matches.
For best value, I'd have to say the Federal bulk ammo available at Sprawl-Mart.
For best accuracy, there are numerous brands of 22 match ammo, and they are proud of them for the prices they charge!
And for backyard plinking, I have to say my favorite is the 22 CB long. Very quiet, and accurate out to 50 yards (I've cut cigarettes in half at that distance with these rounds) In a bolt or lever gun (especially a lever gun) they work great. But, in semi-auto's, they must be cycled manually, that's the only drawback to them.

I prefer Federal or Winchester
The bulk packs from Wal-Mart have worked very well in all my .22 rifles. All the best...

I really like the Wolf Match. It shoots really well in all my 22's. I laid in a stock of it before it got so expensive.

All of the above. All of them make some stinkers and all of them make some pretty fair ammo. As long as the accuracy is close to the same between 2 brands and they both fire consistently I will take the cheaper one just because I can buy more of them. I get no additional thrill from shooting ammunition that cost me twice as much as your box.

For energy in a long rifle I think the CCI Velocitor is excellent. Has good accuracy in my guns too. I've never seen a .22 long rifle round thump and penetrate better. For popping varmints with a hollow point, I prefer the Winchester Power Point.

I'm real partial to Velocitors, especially in my Ruger 10/22's and my 10/22 Magnum. Far and away the most accurate. I stocked and bedded my own rifles and tuned them for the Velocitors. I hunt with mine and love the devestation of a head shot. These are accurate enough to put them there. If you're looking for group size my rifles shoot 1/4" to 1/2" at 50 yards. The Magnum will do 3/4" at 100 yards on a good day.

Depends on the gun, what kind of accuracy I want, and how much cleaning I want to do. The only cartridge my Remington Nylon 66 shoots well is Remington Yellow Jackets. For informal plinking just about anything will do since you aren't doing any serious shooting, so go with whatever you find to be the cheapest but I find Winchester Wildcats to be about the dirtiest burning of anything so be prepared to do a lot of scrubbing. But for clean burning, consistently accurate target or hunting cartridges without breaking the bank I use Winchester Super-X Power Points, XLRPP, in all my 22's except the Nylon 66.

I like CCI Mini-Mag., then Winchester, and last Federal .22 LR shells. The other brands listed seem to be dirtier when fired.

I'm all for inexpensive .22 ammo, but I've found the cheap stuff to be very inconsistent. When being an inch off at 50 yards is the difference between having squirrel stew or a McWhopper, for dinner, I'll stick with something that costs a little more, but has always shot well out of my .22 LR's. Pass me another box of CCI Mini-mags, please...

The Eley shoots awesome out of my 10/22 Target but the cost is way too steep unless you are shooting matches with it. For general plinking and small game hunting the Federal Game Shock and CCI Mini-Mags are pretty hard to beat. They don't give up much accuracy to the Eley and I can buy a brick of the Federal for almost the same money as 100 rounds of the Eley. I shoot the Federal Premium 30 grain JHP through my 22 mag. They are super accurate and really pack a punch.

My 77/22VBZ and tricked out 10/22 both shoot Winchester HiSpeed the absolute best, better than match ammo.
To get rid of ground hogs for the farm I hunt, the 77/22 shoots Remington Yellow Jackets in an inch or less/10 shots at 75yds, and are the most effective for quick kills.

I personally love CCI standard velocity 40gr lead round nose for an all around decent shoot. When I hunt, depending the game in question, I will use a few different types, for larger game in close I like Aguila 60gr SSS, in testing they penetrate 20" of ballistics gel at 25 yards, I have killed small hogs with these, mind you I was a **** of a lot closer to that hog than I ever want to be again, a was a little hair raising to say the least, for smaller game in close I like pretty much anything in 1000 fps range, with a lighter bullet say about 32-36 grain, for anything farther out than say 60 yards I prefer the higher velocity stuff Aguila makes 30 gr bullet that they push at about 1700 fps, these as well as the CCI stingers are awesomely devastating at ranges beyond 60 yards. I'm still in the testing phase to be honest these are just a few that I have found that work well in my Marlin and my Remington, again, I'm still trying to figure out what I like as well as what the guns shoot well.

What gil said. Seems to work accurately in all my rifles, and most hand guns,
with the exception of the Sig Mosquito. That has to be fed mini mags from CCI

I posted this somewhere before.

My 22 rifle, an old Stevens 87A simi-auto likes CCI minimags the best (15 shots covered by a dime at 50 yards), Followed by CCI Blazers and the Federal HollowPoints that come 550 rnds in a milk carton type box. The Blazers and federals are just a tiny bit bigger in group size.
Winchesters were not to great, 1 1/2 to 2 inches at 50 yards and Remingtons you couldnt cover them with a paper plate. That was 10 to 12 years ago so maybe the remingtons and winchesters are better now, but I will stick with buying the blazers and federals.
Never really tried any of the rest much, shot a few yellow jackets and a few stingers (about a box of each, divided up between 3 or 4 different guns, LOL, cost too much.)

American Eagle (Federal). Played with a bunch in various rifles, but what made me stay with American Eagle was that I have a Browning BAR 22 rf, and it is the most jamminest semi-auto ever owned. The CCI ammo with the heavy wax coating jammed that gun up in short order (works fine in other guns). The American Eagle didn't jam the BAR up, as quickly...!
