S&W 617 anyone?

I love my 10 shot S&W Model 617, and call it my "Gatling gun".

They are really first-rate revolvers. And superbly accurate as well.

I got one with the 6" barrel and put a leupold FX-ll 2x20mm . I love it . It is super accurate with CCI MINI MAG 36 gr. hp. out to my maximum range of 50 yards , and with more practice i should be able to extend my range quite a bit further .

I have a 617 4 inch and a 6 inch both in the no dash version holding 6 rounds and coming with the S&W combat grips. They are great revolvers and my 4 inch is just as accurate as my 6 inch.

6 inch

4 inch

I've made plans to buy a model 17 or a model 617 6 inch which last until someone walks up and offers me a S&W model 25 or 625 in 45 Colt. I have a real weakness for 45 Colt Smiths.
I envy you guys.

I have owned both the 4" and 6", they are fine, accurate revolvers but just heavier than I care to actually carry in the field. I picked up one of the Model 63 3" about a year and a half ago and ended up selling both 617's, I'll likely regret that one day.

Even though I own both barrel length 617 no dash the 6 inch is front heavy to me and quite frankly I prefer the Model 17 in 6 inch and the Model 18 in 4 inch as for me they both balance better.

Model 18 combat magnum in 22LR and 4 inch barrel

Model K22 5 screw which is a Pre 17 with 6 inch barrel made in 1955

My M18 does not have the accuracy of my M41. But that is like comparing vinegar and jam. I have shot many a bunny dinner with that M18 and the stories alone are worth the price of the gun. Old five screw 1955 model and I paid the rich price of $150 for it when new M17's were $174.95. Several people said I got hosed. Maybe--maybe not! Today, I think not!

Well, I bought one. 617 no dash.
The single action trigger is good, the double action needs some work. Any one tried the competition springs for Smiths?
