Leave it alone for now, get to the point where you feel you are holding and sighting BETTER than the gun is grouping before resighting. Can get good 50yard groups with iron sights and young eyes...once you've gotten use to the rifle, the trigger pull, and some practice at holding steady enough to think you deserve more than the group shows on paper, then look into a scope.

I have one also, cheap feeling stock and magazines, over 800 rounds of different ammo and not one single problem. So far it is doing good. No scope yet, I like open sights they just don't like me.

I bought one for my youngest son this past spring. He loves it! Has not had a single malfunction yet. Finally got him a second magazine (WalMart $10) for Xmas. Have mounted an old Weaver 3x6 scope on it and its quite accurate. Haven't seen any other stocks yet.

I have the CBC Magtech model 7022, which is the mossberg plinkster just without the mossberg lable. And I was wondering the same thing about different stocks for it. I know you can get replacement synthetic stocks for it from mossberg, but they're just the standard monte carlo style stock. Would be interested in finding something with a pistol grip for it, may look into modifying a stock for a 10/22. If nothing else I will probably order a new stock from mossberg since my rifle has a wooden stock that has a serious crack in it, but crack and all it's a tack driver that has nailed coke lids at 25-30 yards with open sights.

If your a good welder, you can cut two in half and make one. Have to be sure the spring is strong enough for the last few rounds though. Might be fun to play with.

I've got one that I've had for almost a year, and it doesn't seem to shoot worth a **** for me (2" groups @ 25 yds AT BEST)
I've tried 4 different kinds of ammo and no go on any of 'em. Sounds like I need to call Mossberg and/or Gander Mountain and see if this is to be expected or if it's subpar and needs to be brought in for repair/exchange. (I got the extended warranty so I've got 2 years of warranty, just don't know if this would be covered).

.22 plinkster rifle

Well, I just got one and have run 550 rounds through so far ,,, I've had it jam 2 times. the jam was not in the chamber, rather in the clip! The clip has to stagger the bullets to make room for that oversized plastic bolt stopper. 2 times the bullets coming up the narrow part of the clip hung up. Easy enough to just pop the clip out, push the ammo down, it resets, slap it back in the gun and continue.

The open sights of it, ick, certainly not accurate enough to make a clean kill on game ... I was lucky to hit the cans I was shooting at. So, like another poster, went and got the cheapy $20 BSA scope at walmart. I bottomed that out quicly, and the gun still shot a foot high ... probably overtightened the cheap mounts. I returned that, and got a $40 (including shipping) Bushnell off ebay ... its nice and accurate now. The scope I put on is a 3X9-32 and zooms that target right into your face. Now i have a choice to make, take a headshot or chest shot on that squirrel. Do I want to hit the "o" or the "C" on a coke can ... etc. A scope is well worth the investment even if just starting out. The last thing we want to do as sportsmen is wound game. It just makes typical plinkin' more fun too.

I agree, there needs to be some type of magazines made that help with reloading. I forget what gun it was, but one clip had a little button you could pull down, collapsing the spring in the clip. Then you just drop the bullets in, and reapply the spring pressure. After shooting hundreds of rounds, my fingers were sore from pushing against the spring tension. A high capacity magazine would be nice, with spring tension relief. I wonder if the gun manufacturers even know it's ok to make high cap. mags again? I want a 100 round drum clip ... that would just look tough, hehe.

Anyway, had to give my $.02
