Won a Charles Daly Field Hunter (12 ga pump) at a recent benefit dinner; have never owned a CD and have heard everything from "boat anchors" to "OK for the price" about the Field Hunter series; nothing recent though. Any feedback from the Forum? My "standard" piece I use in the field (upland mostly) is an old Model 12 16ga that shoots just fine and has never failed me.
I've seen some older Daily doubles that were works of art. Don't know anything about this series. Since you won it, I'd try it out and draw my own conclusions.
O'Connorsun ~ you be absolutely correct ... will give it a try and take it from there. BTW ... really enjoyed hunting quail down your way last year; had the chance to partake of Norfolk Southern's hospitality at their Brosnon Forest location outside Charleston. My little 16 gauge and their dogs had a fun day!
I won the same gun in a 20ga model a couple of years ago at an NWTF banquet. I have run a few rounds through it so far, and it seems to be a solid little gun.
Chinde, you indeed were a lucky fellow. Brosnon Forest is quite a place, started by Southern Railway. A friend of mine named Mike is a quide there. Trains dogs and is very good at it. I've never had the pleasure of hunting down there but I just like driving by.
