Slug barrel

Ive got a both a Remington 870 and a Mossberg 500. I mostly use the Remington because well I don't know why. Anyway I bought the Mossberg from a buddy of mine not that long ago. For the 870 ive got a 26 inch barrel with removable choke tubes and also an 18 inch cyl bore barrel. For the 500 ive got a 28 inch fixed improved cyl (might be a modified not sure with out looking) and a 18 inch cyl bore barrel. Im thinking about getting a slug barrel for one of them and makeing it a dedicated slug gun. Im leaning more twords the 500 because its more in my price range. I got to looking in to twist rates on slug barrels the barrel for the 500 is 1:36 which seams to be the "old" standard. Ive read that fro the newer high velocity slugs or heavy weight slugs that this is to slow. Is this true or is it one of those things where you just have to shoot a crap load of them and see what happens? This gun will be used for deer and hog hunting. I have used breneke slugs in a cyl bore and blasted a few critters at 50-75 yards. One of the places I hunt back in FL the farmer / rancher only wants us to use shotguns or handguns. Yet he has no issue with us using modern slugs. I don't get it but its what he wants and im hunting on his property so got to follow the rules. So any advice or info you can share on rifled slug barrels will be much appriciated.

Irrelevant with slugs but with sabot a 1/28 will be a bit more accurate, especially the high velocity flavors.
