Varmiting With A 338 Lapua & 300 SMK's

All that was visable at 165 yards was the top of his head , so IO sent a 300 SMK his way

I am getting 2791 FPS average with 92 grains of H-1000 in Lapua cases and Fed 215M primers

Hmm that's interesting. I have a .338-378 I'm going to start reloading for and 300gr SMKs are on the list of things to try. I think, if done properly, mine will through them a tad faster than yours. What's the twist rate on your barrel?

Skyler, remember, best accuracy won't always come with top speed. I'll always give up 100 fps for a 1/2" smaller group.

I have a 30" barrel on mine, some people are getting more speed than I am. Accuracy and consistencew is the goal.

sounds like thats a legit 7-8 hundred yard elk gun. shame its not legal to hunt DG in africa with it.
