given a choice i ll use my 06 for everything..ive got the 30 30 an a 22 rnd that takes them dn.. but why not just hone your skills with the one that has the range if you need it an leaves no doubt about max effect if im off a tad..now i don t go out like you do but at 400 i think the 165 grn in my choice rnd does more tissue damage than a closer shot would..just about explodes what it hits at 400. slim
ps let us see a pic when you get it mounted an in your living rm..grin

The action is a Rem 700 and the scope is a Schimdt&Bender 5X25X56 PMll. The bottom metal is a Seekins detachable 5 round box magazine. The rifle is set up to accept a COAL of 3.9"
