22lr encore pistol barrel
i have an issue with this barrel . i do like that i can now shoot the 22 rim fires. thats some thing i wanted to do ever since i bought and found out that TC offers all kinds of different barrels . for me that had to be twenty years ago.
so when TC started offering the 22 LR barrel i had to have one.
the problem is the casings are fire forming into the void were the extractor is . so far the only thing i can shoot out of it are CB longs .
did i get a bad one ? are all the 22LR barrels form TC like that ?

Sounds like you have a problem, it would be best to call TC on the matter.

Didn't even know they offered one. That could be a squirrel killer for sure!

Have you called them and asked for an ETA?

i did relate my trouble in calling TC to one of the people that works at Jay's. they have had the same problem in the past.
all i can really do is wait.

Sorry to hear that. Since you mention Jay's, I assume you are a fellow Michigander? Keep us posted, as I really want a TC pistol on .22.

Good luck with TC and getting somebody to help you. I called last month to get some parts for one of my encores and was surprised when they said they didn't have any. Since S&W bought out and took over Thompson Center they have shut down the original TC factory and moved everything to the S&W plant. They have not got the TC line back up and running yet. In fact, the customer service gentleman that I spoke with, who was nice and helpful, told me that they have not made a TC rifle or barrel for over 8 months. They are having their barrels made by somebody else. They don't even have parts on the shelves to service their product. I ended up going on line to an aftermarket barrel maker (MGM) and have them send me the parts I needed. MGM machines all their own parts and makes their barrels to their specs so they couldn't guarantee that it would fit the "TC" barrel assembly. Luckily it did and everything is right in the world again, but it could have just as easily gone differently. Makes me really wonder If I even want to continue with the TC Encore line anymore if parts are going to be this hard to come by from the "manufacturer".

Sounds eerily similar to another gun company that was bought out by a bigger company.

Very strange !! I do not have a rim fire myself but have shot a lot of Contender stuff whilst in the USA and never had a problem or heard of one for that matter. I'm afraid the days when you could call Fox Ridge or even the factory and get someone who really wanted to talk T/C and shooting have gone. Spread the word that S&W don't appear to care about their customers and I am sure you will soon get a response.
The buy out and change over was a long time ago and any company worth it's salt should have things up and running, no problem. I get the impression that they just bought out T/C to remove competition in the market place. They would not be the first company to do it.

This is good to know. I guess I look at another SS pistol and keep my Encore as a muzzleloader. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Wow...that's a really sad state of affairs. I hope T/C makes it right for you, and soon!

Dang, hate to see this thread, I just bought a T/C a couple of weeks ago and sure hope there's not any problems with it. I know they had a recall on the Venture for trigger/sear issue's but it's my understanding this gun wasn't manufactured until this summer and shouldn't have any problems. Hope you get your barrel soon ! When did they close the T/C plant, I thought it was to stay open and S&W was going to have their barrels made there. Well, I just read an article that said it closed at the end of last year because sales of the Icon, Contender, and Encore had dropped significantly in the last three years. JMO, I always thought the Icon, Contender, and Encore were a little high. Also read that Bushmaster closed their plant last year as well.

I feel the same way, as I have an Encore that I have barely even used, and was thinking about getting some barrels for it. No way I am going to spend the money on it until I hear better things from T/C.

for the most part my encores have been trouble free. i did brake the tang off a hammer once TC fixed it
one time the threads pulled on the scope base ,sent it in but they would not fix it they said they would replace it but that TC no longer made that barrel . i asked why not just drill and tap bigger ? they said that would take it out of spec. so it was returend to me and a gun smith did tap it bigger
BTW still no 22LR back to me yet
