Registered Users do not see the above ad.

If anyone has a model 219 or 220 they would want to sell, or parts, I would be interested! I am trying to complete a collection for my three boys. E-mail me at: [email protected]
Thanks,
Ken Wilson

This message has been around for a while but I'll add my interest in these Savage 219 and 220 models. I have several 220's in 12, 16, 20 and .410 and one each in 28 gauge, 30-30 and 22 Hornet. I understand that I'm missing both the 25-20 and the 32-20 and would like to add them to the collection.

I cannot help you with your "wants", but I'll simply say that I sure like the looks and performance of my 219/30-30 and can fully understand your desire to complete your collection.

GOOD LUCK!

Sold a Hornet couple yrs ago. Wish Id done so sooner. That 7# trigger is no good on a Hornet-or others.

Won a NEF Handi-rifle in 223/30-30 last winter. That has a real nice trigger. Gave it to my son. He needed a deer rifle.

I love the looks and handling of the 219, very much like a European "stalking rifle".
I will pass on a "caution" regarding the 219. On some it is possible to open the action just far enough to permit loading but not quite far enough to bring it to full cock. In that case the striker will ride down as the action is closed and if shut quickly it can fire the round. I put a .22 Hornet through the fender of my truck that way.

Several decades ago I had a Savage 219 in caliber 30/30. It was very accurate using reloads with lead bullets but it was hard on firing pins. Those pencil lead sized pins broke frequently. I always kept a spare under the butt plate. The trigger pull was also very bad.

I have been looking for another single shot rifle in 30/30 or .308 to test lead bullet reloads. Anybody have any recommendations on a modern single shot that might be a good replacement for that Savage?

The NEF(H&R) Handi Rifle is a very good replacement. Much better trigger and available in couple dozen calibers, or so.

Thanks. . . .

I'll look around in the local gun shops to see what I can find.

Savage Arms 219 & 220 - What's it worth?

I have a Savage Arms Corp. gun my dad left me that has two barrels:

1) Model 219 30/30
2) Model 220 12 gauge

The barrels need some cleaning, but the stock is in great shape.
