If anyone has a model 219 or 220 they would want to sell, or parts, I would be interested! I am trying to complete a collection for my three boys. E-mail me at: wilfam@sssnet.com
Thanks,
Ken Wilson

I cannot help you with your "wants", but I'll simply say that I sure like the looks and performance of my 219/30-30 and can fully understand your desire to complete your collection.

GOOD LUCK! :D

I love the looks and handling of the 219, very much like a European "stalking rifle".
I will pass on a "caution" regarding the 219. On some it is possible to open the action just far enough to permit loading but not quite far enough to bring it to full cock. In that case the striker will ride down as the action is closed and if shut quickly it can fire the round. I put a .22 Hornet through the fender of my truck that way.

Several decades ago I had a Savage 219 in caliber 30/30. It was very accurate using reloads with lead bullets but it was hard on firing pins. Those pencil lead sized pins broke frequently. I always kept a spare under the butt plate. The trigger pull was also very bad.

I have been looking for another single shot rifle in 30/30 or .308 to test lead bullet reloads. Anybody have any recommendations on a modern single shot that might be a good replacement for that Savage?
