I was wondering does anyone make a recoil supressor that fits inside the stock. My 4570 kicks like a mule and I need something other than a Limbsaver pad.

Welcome to the forum jc. Rules are simple, be nice and join in.

You might consider magna-porting. If you do a search it will come up. This is EDM ports cut in your barrel that will reduce recoil on the order of 20 percent. Works good and does not add a big glob of metal to the end of a barrel.

I have a 20" Kahtadin bbl for my Pro Hunter. The Limbsaver pad that came on the weapon when I bought it with a 7mag bbl works great.

Still.......the .45-70 hot loaded really thumps. Enough that I would reccommend serious consideration of scope and eye relief due to recoil. Of course alot of this is because of the pad. It is so mushy that it compresses to the tune of 1" or so, and takes that eye relief away from you.

I have toyed with handloads of the low, to very low, power variety. There is a world of difference. Even with the bigger bullets.

The .45-70,IMO,is for handloaders only. Especially if you want a extremely hot load. Even the storebought stuff thumps you pretty bad.

As a side note.........I found that the older loading of the Remington 300gr HP's are as accurate as my handloads. I believe these have been discontinued though. The Rem 405's and the Win 300's are the only "normal" loading of the .45-70 that is still around. This, unless you go with the bulk stuff from places like Cabela's.

As stated above, some sort of brake is your only other option. I have fired a couple of .45-70's with a brake installed and the recoil reduction is huge. Look around, you might find something that you like. A JP Brake would be the ultimate if you could put up with the noise/blast.
