BC Target 38 55

I just purchased a H@R BC Classic 38 55 and would like to know what size groups I can expect to get at 100 to 200 Yds.I am new to the caliber and reloading and have read that the rifle has chamber and bore problems.My rifle has a.379 bore an a.395 chamber measured off a fire formed case.The only mold I have at this time is a LEE 250 gr with winchester brass.I have some starline long brass orderd when thay make it again.Any help or suggestions woud be of greatlly appreciated.

You need to Graybeard Outdoors sight and do a search and read up. The only true way to solve that rifles problem is to ream the chamber out to .400. The chamber is a 375 Winchester diameter, 38-55 length and a tight 38-55-.380 bore mine came as .380 if I REMEMBER RIGHT. Best bet is to go to that sight and read what I have posted and others,you will find the most Info there on HR -NEF We all worked together on that rifle.

The BC's shoot very well . The Trigger is the hardest thing to work around. Try the lee bullet sized as big as you can and start with 8 GR of unique and slowely work up to 11 Gr amd you will find a good load somewhere in there. SHOOT it before you let someone talk you into fixing it. It might be fine. J.Michael

I agree and would only add to be sure to try the Lee bullet as cast of an alloy like 20/1.

.379 bullet Dia. + 0.010 case wall thickness will give you .399 and Win and Starline cases run 0.010 + or -1. Now the reason I told trigger25 to go to Graybeard site is because those guys like Quiktoo do and others have done
a lot of ground work on those rifles those guys are the Guru's of HR rifles and they know their S%!*@% you won' find any more knowledgeable group on HR'S. They are a good rifle for the money but this model has it's share of quirks. The reamer you can rent for under 50.00$ with shipping and do it yourself. REAM IT, TRIGGER JOB , 0.494 HEIGHT(LOWER) LYMAN FRONT SIGHT,WILLIMAMS FP RECEIVER SIGHT WITH TARGET KNOBS, and you will have a good shooting little rifle and forget about smokeless it's just a (fade)
black is where it's at!! you will have less than 550.00 into that rifle with the Mods. and you can shoot with rest out to 500 yards you wont be
Handi-caped and MOA. is no problem with a little develoment.
