Remington made some rolling block rifles that were chambered as Spanish Mausers (7x57). Don't remember which action they used but it was one of the bigger rolling blocks. Several years ago had an opportunity to handle a used one. Who ever had been the previous owner had had it reblued with nice Williams/Lyman/Redfield peep sight installed. Would liked to have latched onto that one but it wasn't to be.

Been discontinued by Remington, Model SPR18 made by
Izhevsky Mekhanichesky Zavod (Baikal) in Russia. They are an old manufactuer of Russian/Soviet arms. They do make the Makarov 9x18mm pistol. I bought a Baikal IZH-43K SxS 28" 12 ga hammer gun back around 88-89' in Germany. Still functions fine and I take it out hunting when ever I can and used to shoot skeet with it. On your SPR18 I understand that it came with a scope mount but no rings. The mount is for the other European 11mm base which can be hard to find proper rings for.

Millet makes rings that will fit an 11mm base. I have used them on the O/U double rifle produced by the same manufacturer as Rem's single shot, combination rifle/SG and S/S double rifle.

Does anyone know what other (larger) calibers I can re chamber a Remington rolling block 7x57 spanish military rifle? I was hoping I could have it converted to 45-70 or maybe another large black powder cartridge.
Thanks,

Kudu40

A 7x57 RB cannot be safely rechambered to a larger cartridge - since that means you'd be into high-pressure rounds, like a 280 or 7mm mag of some kind.

Since they were built on Remington's smokeless action, though, one could be rebarreled for just about whatever BCPR-type round you'd prefer - and certainly the .45-70, once a quite common conversion, with companies like Numrich even selling conversion "kits", with barrels, etc.
