Just acquired a 7MM (?) r b rifle. Cant find any markings except the patent info. The tang screw doesnt fit, although it is the same screw used on my 1871. Anyone know the thread used on the 7 mms? I tried a 6-1 metric, but that doesn't fit either. It also has a loose front barrel band, with no means of pulling it togwether, it simply has the sling swivel through it. Where can I get more info on this rifle or parts for it? It's also missing the upper stock.

I've had many older firearms in my collection where the SN was sometimes under the fore end or stock wood. Even found them in the tang area on some after removing the stock. If it was a cheap model sold in hardware stores its possible there were never any SN's. Sometimes the patent infor is helpful for dating the manufacturer and approximate year of manufacturer. Half of the fun sometimes is playing detective. Good luck on your quest.
