i found a little big horn h&r 45-70 calvary caarbine on the oklahoma shooters forum.

it is in great shaped. the blueing and wood is about 95% new.

i understand that these were approz 1970 to 1975.



i was wondering where i might find schematics?

any info to share about these rifles?

i do know to reload to specs for trapdoors.

i heard about a hex screw on some h&r's coming out??????

the rear peep sight's hole is relatively large?

need to load some lighter loads so i can shoot this weekend...

Try some IMR 4759 and and some 405 fn, about 24 or 25 grns.not much recoil and real accurate.

I wish I could remember the website, but several years back I did run in to one that was dedicated to the H&R Trapdoor. It had lots of good information on loads and on gun modifications and "upgrades" that the home gunsmith could accomplish fairly easily. Sorry I can't recall the name, but a Google search might turn it up.

I found an H&R 1873 rifle inscribed one of 1,000, but have never shot it. All the best...
