Welcome to ShootersForum, Mikey.

Some more details would be helpful, such as; are you using a scope or open sights? What kind of rest are you using and what exactly do you mean by "consistent" shooting? Are you not getting any decent groups or are some of them OK and others, terrible?

That rifle should shoot those rounds well enough, but without a little more information, I don't know that we'll be able to help you out very much.

Hope to hear back from you! :)

The 225gr FTX ammo shoots good in mine, depends on how old your barrel is, those made prior to late 2006 had very overbore barrels, they required hot loads or .432" and bigger cast bullets. Marlin made barrels starting in late 2006 have .429"-.430" bores. For any Handi-rifle, you need to know what makes em shoot good, read the Handi Basics 101 sticky in the H&R Centerfire rifle forum at the link below, it will help get the best accuracy from your Handi, 9 times out of 10, newbies oil em up good, that's bad for accuracy, make sure the locking latch and latch shelf are clean and dry, that's the number one fix for accuracy problems reported by H&R gunsmiths, there are several other tips in the sticky to be aware of.

Merry Christmas,

Tim
