CVA Scout

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I just purchased a CVA Scout and the barrel & receiver have different serial numbers. Is this because you can change out barrels on this rifle??

Welcome to the forum. Rules are to join in, have fun, and play nicely with the rest of us kids.

Barrels are, like other parts, interchangeable on most modern commercial guns. Typically, only the receiver will have an actual serial number in a mass produced modern rifle. The other parts just get part numbers. Only a part that required custom fitting that tied it to a particular receiver would get the matching serial number on it. For mass production, engineers avoid designs that require that kind of custom work like the plague.

Graybeard, The Scout is set up factory wise not to accept additional barrels. They are what they are. Here is a thread about the CVA Scout

For clarification, I believe the CVA does not accept caliber change barrels, like the T/C Encore does. It can, however be fitted with replacement barrels, which is why the serial numbers don't need to match.

The only current production CVA centerfire rifle model that is a switch barrel is the Apex, the Scout doesn't have the option of interchangable barrels like the Apex or TC Encore and Contender.

Whoops...I posted a link to a site. Sorry if this is a violation. I am interested in a CVA .243 Compact Scout.
