I had a buddy ask me today about the TC Encore in 45/70 and what levels it can be safely loaded to. I really didn't know how to answer but I told him I would ask you guys, what is safe in these rifles? Do they compare with lever guns in strength or can they take the higher pressure loads meant for the likes of a Ruger?

I know my son uses either 60 or 62 grns of H322 with a 300 grn Hornaday JHP, which I believe is max, very accurate as well.

I'll be you quit before the gun does. Ouch...... no way would I even try to get close. Recoil ought to be just brutal even at 28,000 CUP loads.....

Direct answer to your question is, "Yes, any load listed for a Ruger is safe in the Encore."

This is, as long as it's your buddy shooting it and not you!

It's not a question of how hot you can load it!! The question is how much KICK can you stand ?????? A 500 gr. bullet at 1200--1400FPS will kill ANYTHING you want with the exception of a SHERMAN TANK... SEE you--all later Greg Bayes from Ky.
