2012 Hunting season has started around here...
Seems like GA, MS, and AL are in full swing but I won't be able to go at all for a while. My uncle got a doe and a hog bow hunting Saturday. Anyone else having any luck?

Antelope rifle season and early elk season are going here. I wasn't successfull on either draw. However my youngest son filled both antelope tags with his new 25-06.

Been in woods 5 times now and got a doe with my new compound bow. First deer with a big boy bow. I was excited. I turned the whole deer into jerky (except tenderloins). Last bit of jerky came off this am. mm mm good.

I've been 3 times in Kentucky thus far; Saturday afternoon and both yesterday and this morning. Nothing seen on Saturday, two does yesterday morning and the coolest morning of the season, low 30s this morning, had the deer moving. I saw nine does this morning, but still not an antler one.

Out scouting, yesterday & today, Tennessee areas for the upcoming early M/L season. Checked the area I shot a big bodied 8 last year during early M/L yesterday and found another rub line in the same area I took last year's buck from. Today to spot #2 and just as I arrived to my stand spot (ground) I kicked out a deer, which turned out to be a buck with a good heavy 4 or 5 pnt right side, but the other side looked to be lighter and 3 pnts. A doe was also seen and 7 or 8 scrapes were found as I toured the area.
Last two mornings were picture perfect with 30* and frost, same tomorrow, but warmer on the opener, Saturday. I'll hope the cool weather has them up and on their feet!!

Well, so far no luck for me this weekend with Tn M/L but my Son-in-law took a nice buck last night. He was hunting with his Dad in Robertson County, Tn and took this long-tined 9 point. So far this weekend I've only seen three small bucks that wouldn't add up to this one...lol!

I am seeing nothing but does with yearlings. I normallly take a big doe for meat unless they have young ones with her. Finally saw a large single doe the other evening and decided to take her. As I put my crosshairs on her, I caught some movement to her left. Yep, two young yearlings following her. So much for filling the freezer today. My son in law did kill a 200 lb hog so we have our sausage and pork chops for the year.
