This is an age old piece of chewing baccy. Do you or don't you. All of my rifle barrels are treated to a gentle run in procedure but I am still not sure what difference it makes. I'm old enough to remember when we would run a cars engine for a 1000 miles or such alternating the pressure a bit on the throttle. I have put a new V8 in my Land Rover and the engine builder insisted I take it easy, don't tow anything and keep alternating the engine revs up and down. That is what I did. Like all LR V8s it still likes oil, but goes like a bat out of ####(saved the computer the trouble ). My Encore barrels had the gentle treatment and all of them shoot sub MOA, but probably would have done anyway. Three rounds, clean, three rounds, clean, three rounds, clean. Let it cool etc etc.
Way back 15 ...20yrs ago I remember a discussion at a party in Texas where the guys were talking about a system where barrels could be polished with ultra sonics of sorts. Is that still available in the US did it die the death? Did it work ? Sounded like a good idea for 17 cal barrels to ease copper fouling.
Slugging the barrel ...new one on me, explain please
