They use .270 brass since those cases are slightly longer than '06 brass. Dies can be found here:
http://www.huntingtons.com/dies_specialorder.html

Click on the .243 Catbird link here:
http://www.jarrettrifles.com/petcalibers.aspx

The Catbird is slightly behind the .244 H&H Magnum in power and velocity, but it burns less powder and the barrel will last a bit longer (the developer says 1500 rounds).

Look Here:

http://www.chuckhawks.com/244H-H_Mag.htm

http://www.accuratereloading.com/244hhmag.html

The cartridge hasn't been chambered commercially for a long time. It proved to be wildly inefficient with a short barrel life, but it exceeded 6mm-06 velocities by 100-200 fps in a 29" barrel, IIRC.

Another option is the 6mm Mach IV or my .240 Incinerator. Both are 6mm's on blown-out 264 Mag brass. With 70 grain bullets and surplus powder, you can get 4,400 fps out of a 28" tube. Just a thought.

yote buster, There happens to be a 244 H&H for sale on gunbroker right now. It is a remington 700. Looks like a pretty neat gun. I have thought about getting the same caliber. Its overkill but thats probably what I like about it.
