.277 Ruger

This idea came to me a couple days ago, and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since. Ruger's .375 caliber has a 101 water grain case capacity. So why not take the full length version and neck it down? I thought .277 would be a good example since we already have plenty of leggy 7mms and .30s.
So, a all-around western rifle using the -o6 length action with 7mm STW performance.

An easier way to get a little more out of the .277, might be necking down the .300 Win Mag. Just some food for thought.

By the way, there is a .270-STW on Reloadersnest.com, one load shows 3800fps for a 130gr bullet.

Be a good idea to do that on a Savage action, then after sighting in and a few hundred rounds you can change out the barrel pretty quickly. Kinda like the barrel life of the 257 STW. They don't last long.

Bottom line is there are lots of good long range cartridges out there that won't burn a barrel up so quickly without the added expense of chambering and barreling a new rifle.

Personally, if Im going to be cooking a barrel, I want to be playing with a 30-378 Wby Mag.
