It's the difference in weight between a once-fired and sized case and the same case filled level with H2O. Quickload suggests somewhere around 62.4 grains.

62.4 grains of what?

How does the capacity of the AI'd version compare with the standard case?

62.4 grains of water. That's filled to the top of the case mouth.

IIRC, the 7mm AI has about 4-5 grains of extra space when compared to the standard 7x57mm case.

My personal loadings for this AI cartridge was a 162 gr Hornady BTSP, 3.080" OAL, 51.5 gr V-V150, a CCI BR2 primer and averaging 2907 fps out of a 24" bbl. Using a 160 gr Nosler Partition, the load was the same and had a 2923 fps avg.

What rifle action have you chosen?

I find that the 7X57's don't fill many long actions. Some say to "seat the bullet out".

If a 7X57 will fit in an action many times a 280 will too.

It,s going to be a savage target action for local f-class shoots. A couple of guys are using 180 gr High bc bullets in their 7's and if you can't beat them might as well join them. Beside's already have a 280AI.
