what rifle action
Hi, 416 ADS. Welcome, and we'd all like to know what rifle you are using, and how does this cat feed from it's magazine? I'm closing in on doing a .416" streamlined Ruger wildcat using the basic cases. My 8mm wildcat is using 68 grs. of IMR 4831, under Speer 200gr. Hot Cores, per Powley predictions, to get started, and the projected 416 Will use about the same, but of a faster powder. There's not much difference between my 8mm and the 325 WSM, but I went with the 66mm length to get a super slick feeding round, in Military CRF, M-98 Mausers. I'm a lefty, using straight bolts, with low scope safeties, flipped over. So conventional scope mounting doesn't work for me. Also, how much does your smokepole weigh? With my projected one caliber plus necks, I'm looking to be able to use the 400 gr. bullets. But 330 seems to be the most efficient for foot lbs. of energy, on the online Powley computers. With a little tweaking, I'm hoping to just nudge or even break the 5000 ft/lbs. barrier.
With the 410's, I'm hoping for about 4600 FPE. How do you feel your cat stacks up against the std. belted 416 Taylor wildcat?
