has anyone been working on any loads for this round? i've had mine for 3 years . had trouble with case shoulder neck cracks. now i'm making cases from 300rum cases. neck walls are thicker so i had a neck reamer made by ptg to .458 . didn't want to thin the necks or i'd be back in the same spot. accuracy has been great with 350 gr. barnes around 2350fps. .75 in. groups average with h4895.

You might try annealing your cases. What you need to do is set your cases in a shallow pan fill up to the middle of the cases with COLD water & take a propane torch and heat the necks to red hot and tip over into the cold water.

What kind of stats do you get from the 416 WSM? Sounds like it would be a great modern day 45-70 type of "brush" gun.

what rifle action

Hi, 416 ADS. Welcome, and we'd all like to know what rifle you are using, and how does this cat feed from it's magazine? I'm closing in on doing a .416" streamlined Ruger wildcat using the basic cases. My 8mm wildcat is using 68 grs. of IMR 4831, under Speer 200gr. Hot Cores, per Powley predictions, to get started, and the projected 416 Will use about the same, but of a faster powder. There's not much difference between my 8mm and the 325 WSM, but I went with the 66mm length to get a super slick feeding round, in Military CRF, M-98 Mausers. I'm a lefty, using straight bolts, with low scope safeties, flipped over. So conventional scope mounting doesn't work for me. Also, how much does your smokepole weigh? With my projected one caliber plus necks, I'm looking to be able to use the 400 gr. bullets. But 330 seems to be the most efficient for foot lbs. of energy, on the online Powley computers. With a little tweaking, I'm hoping to just nudge or even break the 5000 ft/lbs. barrier.
With the 410's, I'm hoping for about 4600 FPE. How do you feel your cat stacks up against the std. belted 416 Taylor wildcat?

I'm using a rem 700 short mag action.Gun was originally a 325 WSM. It feeds just fine. My gun wieghs in at 10lbs with 2x7 Burris scope. I like the 416 Taylor but thought my 416 ADS would be a bit more challenging and more powerful. I like 350gr Barnes at 2350. Went faster but recoil got ruff. I'm using h4895. Might try R15.

The Long and the Short of it

Hi 416 ADS,
I passed on a .416x350RM, back in the early seventies. That Remmie had split two stocks, before it's owner put it up for sale in a sporting goods store, up the Clearwater River from me. I hope your 416x325 WSM hangs together for you. FWIW, you have a much better shoulder to head space on than does my attempt. And you are using a rifle that was chambered for your parent case to feed smoothly. I hope you enjoy using it, as much as you obviously enjoyed building it. That stock splitter, 416 x 350, wasn't anywhere near ten pounds, as it was built on it's parent 350 Rem. Mag. carbine.
Thanx, Carpooler
