Have one built on the P-17 Enfield action with a 1:10 heavy sporter fluted barrel (26 1/2") made by David Van Horn of Gilbert, Az. Been keeping careful track of the number of shots and barrel wear by inspecting with a Hawkeye bore scope. so far, nearly 900 rounds and everything still looks good. I'm shooting 100 and 105 gr Hornady soft points because this is a hunting rifle. Chronograph clocking shows average fps speeds of 3350, which is an accurate and comfortable load to shoot, expecially with the heavy (11 lb with scope) rifle.
To me, a great cartridge and lots of fun to poke holes in paper or animals - several deer and an antelope so far.
