Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I do not know how to use the rear sight adjustment on my Dad's Old 94.? It has the Original Buck Horn type sight on it.but I do not know how to lower or raise it & do not want to damage it. I checked on YouTube for some videos of How to..? But nothing is posted for this.? would appreciate some help on it. thanks

Do you mean the factory open rear sight?

If its the factory open sight on the barrel you mean, it should have a stepped elevator. Gently grabbing the ears of the sight and raising it just enough to allow the elevator to move, then sliding the elevator up or down as needed will do coarse adjustments. They also have a small screw that allows the insert in the rear face of the sight to move. In earlier days, the Winchester factory figured the steps corresponded to ranges, with the lowest step being for 50 yards, and each step an additional 50 yards out to 250-300 yards. They had different several different elevators to correspond to different cartridges. Nobody seems to use the steps that way today, or know their purpose other than to roughly sight in.
