Bought 2 boxes of 357 mag ammo that has a red label saying its Law enforcement ammo on it. Ranger SXT 180 gr . Bullets look like Black Talons . Any rarity or value to this ammo ?

I doubt that it has any great monetary value. It may have some collector value, which may be difficult to equate to monetary value if there is little published history for such.

Memory is fading, but weren't Black Talons initially available as reloading components, but then the gun-ban hysteria prevailed and they were pulled from retail offerings due to 'devastating wounds from the gajillion rpm's of the bullet with expanded jacket petals', or something like that? Or were they never offered as reloading components?

I remember the media blew them up to be something they aren't, the media would report them as Teflon ( armor coated piercing bullets ) because they apparently don't know the difference between Talon ( a name only ) to the other. So, they were wrongly getting a bad rap thanks to the media, hmmmmm, imagine that !!!

What happened here? How did this topic suddenly change from a question about old .357 ammo to a discussion of mining equipment? For some reason I just don't see the connection.

Don't tell the Supreme Court you have this ammo-- or how you got it...

What would you hunt with it? Gotta be something small like coyotes, rabbits or smallish mountain cats like lynx or bobcat. You'd have to get close-- something like 25 to 40 yards, I should think. Is a bobcat really a lynx, with the word "bobcat" being merely a slang term for the lynx?

Bobcat and lynx are two different species, but their ranges overlap. Perhaps some cross breeding there.

I've bought lots of law enforcement ammo from individuals and such, I don't beleive there is anything special about it saying law enforcement on the box? I'm sure they just pay less money for more of it. I get .45gap and .40s&w law enforcement ammo all the time for $20-25 a box of 50. It's nice ammo, but I'm sure there are some civilian ammo options that are better. Like corbon maybe?
