I have a friend in the Albany, Oregon area who is a complete novice to all forms of firearms and is seeking instruction and advice. If any of you know of NRA instructors, pro gun ranges, good gun shops, etc... in that area I will pass the information on to him. He is interested in both self-defense and hunting, but I am encouraging him to learn home self-defense first. Hunting-wise, it would probably be an occassional deer or smaller game. Thanks.

Thanks, Guys. He's a pretty busy guy but I'll let him know. I found the Albany Gun Club on the web and downloaded their newsletter. It looks like a large and active club. My suggestion is that he purchase a good .22 target pistol to begin with.
