Traditions Hawkin Sight UPGRADES

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

Hey guys, new to the forum. I recently was gifted a Traditions Hawkin build kit and having a blast with the build. Currently waiting for the stain to dry so I can get on to some tru oil. Only problem I have is with the crap sights that came with the kit. Does anyone have experience with this kit and has replaced the sights? I was thinking of a rear peep. Although I can easily have the barrel drilled and tapped I was hoping for another option. Are there any tang sights that would easily mount to this rifle? What have others done?

Please help

Hope I posted this in the right forum

Is the rear sight mounted via two or four tapped holes? This pic seems to indicate that is the case: https://www.muzzle-loaders.com/tradi...-krc52408.html

If so can you tell what size? Is the front sight just a dovetail blade I imagine?

I have just put a Lyman peep sight on my Investarms Hawkins .50. There is a large range of sights by Lyman that do the job. Have a look on 'Track of the Wolf' web sight under 'Gun Parts' then 'Sights', then 'Tang sights' Hope I'm not breaking any rules here, but if you have a look, you may see what you are after.
My sight is great and I love it. Cheers, Kevo.

I used a fixed lyman sight off the great plains rifle and cut a dovetail.

Thanks for the replies guys. Ta n g sight on track of the Wolf are nice. Not sure I could fit it to the stock the way I would want to. Took a look at TC peeps and pulled the trigger on one. Will need to drill and tap now

not sure that tc peep sight will even fit the tradtions tang, as its very short compared to a tc.
