Well, we finally moved our long range stand over to its new location at about 3:30 Saturday. My son wanted to hunt it without the 4 and 7 yr old that are usually hanging all over him. So at about 5:00, he shot this young boar at about 148 yds with a 243 loaded with 85 grain handloads.
Since this one was not at the 400 yard feeder, we didn't do an autopsy.
But we set this up to shoot long range pigs with standard sized hunting rounds. 243, 6.5x55,260 257 bob, 7mm-08 270 Win etc. Point being that many of us underestimate what our rifles in standard calibers (non-magnums) will do. I know I do. The larger hogs average about 16-22" across with tougher hide then mule deer or elk so we'll see what the results will be. They make a great live target.

Yep Grandpa took care of the boys. Mike, I've got a new Gateway that has so many filters on it.
I'm trying to get it in Jpeg only but all the others formats keep coming up. I'll figure it out eventually

Okay, that's getting a little better on the pictures

Save them as .jpg, Tom. Use Irfanview (free download) or other software to convert. BMPs (bitpmaps) are terribly inefficient and you can't put a very big one on the forum.

Call if you need instructions. You know the number!

Need to set up a target backer at the 400 yard range for sighting in :D :D :D I will bring my Weatherby next trip......

Free deer blind... some assembly required.....

Tom,

Found you some materials for repairing the stand :D

Heiko and I cut up the one on the hill, in the middle of the Woods pasture. I guess an enterprising person could put it back together with a little bit of Liquid Nails?

There's probably $20 worth of carriage bolts on this thing. Talk one of your grandsons into taking it apart .....

Too windy to burn it before we left, so feel free to use it for parts...... Only one wasp nest in it, that's not bad!!!!
