What would be a good addition to the powder menu I already have? I would like to stick to the IMR line, and am looking for something that is good for 30-06. Here is a list of the powders I currently use.

IMR 4895
IMR 4007 ssc
IMR 4350
IMR 4831

Hodgdon 335
Hodgdon BL-C(2)

Winchester 748
Winchester 760

Thanks

4350 works fine for the .30-06, but I have also used 4064 with good results. Varget is my current choice, as it is accurate and meters much better than 4064 ever did.

I use IMR 4064 in 30-06 for my M1 Garands, you'll get better velocity with IMR 4350 or IMR 4831 though. You could go a long ways with IMR 4831, and you'll probably only need that powder to get what you want.

Of the powders you have there, you will be happy with 4895, BL-C2 AND 748 with bullets of 165gr or less.
165gr or more, 4350 works very well, and 4831 for very heavy bullets.
I use a lot of 4064 for match loads, as it is very accurate for me in 30-06 and 308 and is good with gas guns.

Frank and Gil both have it right. The Garand operating rod is bent by excessive muzzle pressure, and the slower the powder, thee more muzzle pressure you have. So, stay with IMR 4895 and IMR 4064 (my preference of the two) in IMR powders for the Garand from about 150 to 175 grain Sierra MatchKings and similar bullets. The 10" twist is a little fast for lighter bullets than that to do their best. IMR 3031 is good for the 125 to 150 grain range, though at the upper end the 4064 still does better about case fill and temperature and charge immunity. If you get to playing with the short 100 and 110 grain bullets, IMR 4198 does well.

IMR 4350 has always treated me well in .30-06. I have had good results with H414 as well. Bolt guns only....actually, I didn't know there was any other kind;-)
