Be cautious, when you send it in for service. I had one that did a quick full auto two round burst, firing the second round, about 3/8" before being seated in the chamber. It jammed the gun, badly, and irreparably damaged a family heirloom. Winchester was real goo about it. They sent me a box, with a UPS label already on it, for each, the gun, and the ammo I was using. In the end, though, because the gun could not be repaired afterward, Winchester told me that they COULD NOT return the gun. They paid me a fair market value price for the gun. But, the gun had a family story behind it, and I wanted to keep it as a wallhanger, instead. I was even willing to let them keep all of the internal mechanism, but they refused, stating that because the hazard was potential loss of life, they could not do so, for liability reasons.
Since that happened 3+ years ago! I have been looking to replace that gun! and FINALLY, just got one, yesterday, a 1961 model, at a gun show in Poteau, OK. THE FIRST THING I AM GOING TO DO WITH IT, IS CHECK ITS RECALL STATUS.
