Spring Bear

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I drew a spring bear tag for the Capital Forest area. It has been years since I have hunted bear in the spring but what the hey, anything to extend hunting season!
I will hunt everywhere before I die.

I like hunting the open steep river slopes on the North Fork of the Clearwater over here in Idaho in the spring. When the black bear start looking for their first meals they seem to like these slopes.

Usually any rifle good for deer works. I like either my old 8mm Rem mag or the new 280 I just picked up for those long accross the canyon shots. The shorter ranged lever actions work well within their distance envelopes. I've killed a bunch with the 41 and 44 mag revolvers and that also works well within the distances a shooter can work.

Good luck on your hunt and let us know how it comes out.
Bob from Idaho

I have tried to out twice but have been blocked by vehicles blocking the roads. There is a lot of fire wood down now in that area.
