Large Loop Lever-94 Winchester

Hello All, I'm new here and was hoping to get some information. I've been searching for a few years now trying to find the Large Loop Lever for my 94AE Winchester. Does anyone know where I can order this part?

I plan to have a dealer install it as soon as I can get my hands on the part. The regular lever drives me crazy when I shoot- can't get all my fingers in...LOL

I had always wondering about the large loop lever - I remembered years ago reading in various firearms publications about a John Wayne commemorative and it had the large loop. I didn't know if it was for show, functionality or what the deal was, but I may have found the answer here:

not just for looks it was also called a glove ring

The large loop is far more comfortable to shoot if one has large hands. The gun can be cycled faster with the large loop (the original purpose). However, most buyers buy it for looks.

I second that. I wondered how my hands would fit into the normal loop, so I went to a gun store looking for one. The small loops are way too small for me. Granted, the large loop might be a little unnecessarily large, but it is way more comfortable and with the 16" barrel, I can do the flip-cock. Maybe useless, but fun once you figure out how to get the front sight not to gouge you in the bicep!

My Dad had big, thick, meaty hands - he never seemed to have an issue with the normal sized loop. The sentence that I quoted from the article above:

"Even cowboy shooters, many of whom are inclined towards the flamboyant, will soon find the standard loop lever is much faster to operate than the large loop lever."

would indicate that the large loop isn't beneficial in cycling of a round faster and the standard loop is in fact superior. It's not that I'm against it at all, because I really like the looks of the large loop, but like so many things I have come across - especially with playing drums, my other hobby - people will go to great lengths to convince themselves that they are getting a performance advantage out of something that for the most part is only an aesthetic change.

I have to disagree, The large loop offers an advantage for some shooters who know how to use it. I can cycle the large loop faster than the standard lever. I know this because I have several guns of each type. How can you know that the standard lever is best for everyone? I am not a fan of the large loop lever guns but each type has it's place and use.

But what would be the difference? The mechanism still has to do the exact same things no matter what size the loop of the lever. I suppose that each person develops a preference and there really isn't a "correct" thing on this subject - much like anything else.

Some of us have large to extra large hands and cannot get our fingers into a standard lever comfortably. The large loop solves that issue and permits a better grasp of the lever and stock. That is to say, it permits the correct grasp of the lever and stock, thus, it is faster.

I think large loop levers are ugly, but they work.

:) I'm just the opposite - I think that the large lever looks really neat, but I'm not sure how practical it would be for me. I have pretty big hands, but my fingers aren't really thick and heavy, so the size of the small loop is fine for me.

Since we are on the subject of speed, who really cares? I don't go out and play Chuck Connors on the weekends. Be it for looks, for comfort or just for the heck of it, I think it is great.

I never try to shoot as fast as possible with a lever action, in fact, I cycle the action very slowly because I want to catch the brass.

The point being discussed is not how we shoot. The question is; is there any practical use for the large loop lever or is it just for looks?
I say that it can be useful under certain circumstances depending on the individual. I do not think it is useless for everyone. I do not admire the large loop, however, it is more comfortable for ME to operate.

I got two for my Marlins, I love the look and I have big hands
I found Factory Stainless steel big loop levers on ebay ($150ea) but I know a few people make after market and of Couse they make for the Win94

this is my Marlin 336 in 30-30 with the big loop off a newer gun
