I believe that Shooters Forum is the proper spot to make this bit of news known:
Shooters, the Ranch Dog Postal Match has come to an end. Here’s a quote from RD from an email of May 31. “I've given some thought to the Postal Match but honestly I think that I will let it go. I guess somebody could take it but I would insist that it not be called the "Ranch Dog" match as that means it would only generate mail for me.”
I believe that Michael realizes that time is a very precious commodity and he chose to use his time wisely. He has been very generous with his time and his families too over the years he ran the match and now it’s finished.
Some of us have participated from the very first PM and many new friendships have been made. Three of us were lucky enough to have our name drawn for a hog hunt at RD’s ranch. Beartoother, TedH, and myself enjoyed the hospitality of RD and his family in south Texas. I and the others will always remember the time we spent as his guest. I’m sure we’ll keep in touch and possibly compete in whatever comes up to take the place of RD’s match but it won’t be the same. Another change we’ll somehow adjust to. It was his insight that opened the eyes of a whole new group of shooters to the accuracy potential of the lever action rifle. His cast bullets designed specifically for Marlin leverguns illustrate his in-depth research before marketing the product. All praise the results of shooting his bullets.
Thank you Michael.
