I have a 1963 browning safari in 264 win mag that has a period 4x12 vari-x ii scope. The dials don't have the familiar clicks but instead evenly spaced numbers 0,2,4,6,8,10 around the dial. What do these numbers correspond to. Thanks
I think you will find that figuring 1/2" per Mark also aligns as 2" between the posted numbers. This at 100 yards, of course. While some bemoan the older Leupold friction adjustments preferring the newer 1/4" positive click, the older friction dials work very well IMHO.
If you think the scope could use a new reticle like a #4, Leupold will install it and do a full service on the scope for about $70.
The friction type adjustments aren't popular but work very well. It takes a tinkering to get them down to the last 1/4" when dialing them in. A bonus on tbose scopes is you can rotate the reference ring for an index to your adjustments.
Have 3 of those older Leupolds and all have been solid dependable scopes.
