What do you hunt (haunt)?

That power and objective size is way over the top for the hunting I do and I hunt open prairies.

Actually I've been comparing with my vortex diamond back hp smaller lighter and the diamond back hp seems to ha e better definition at 1/2 plus than Minox btw I am starting to shoot at extended ranges 700 yards plus working my way put further and trying differemt loads

The upper limit I shoot is at 500 yards and thats mostly on varmints. My game rifles have 3-940s and under. Due to the weight and objective reflection signature I don't like those "Humble" like scopes.

For low light, the quality of glass and coatings yield best results in my opinion.

There are several guys here that own Minox scopes, maybe they will weigh in on this thread. Since I don't have the scope you are looking at my opinion isn't worth much.

I own 1 Minox scope a ZA5 1.5-832 with #4 reticle. I got the scope after doing some research that mostly said it was a quality piece of glass and I especially like the 5X power range of very low (1.5) to a decent top magnification for longer pokes (8).

The scope was touted to be very similar to the Zeiss Conquest series also using Schott glass. I did not find this to necessarily be true. The eye box is somewhat restrictive, while eye relief is good. The #4 reticle is also not done well (from someone who owns about dozen or more scopes with #4 reticles) with the center section too wide and the center crosshairs to thin for good low light performance.

The scope is decent enough, but at a MSRP of about the same as a similar Leupold VX-R, I'd trade it now in a second (I did get it on sale for less however). I cannot determine whether Minox scopes are going to remain a viable choice because supplies and models are not consistently available and the models seem to change constantly (just my personal observation)

For now, I'll likely not purchase another Minox unless I see something new from them. I'm not slamming them, as I said mine is a very good scope, but I'll buy a similar Leupold or Zeiss and maybe Vortex instead today more than likely.

Thank you you have helped me make my decision
