Hi Fellow Shooters,

I own an SKS in 7.62 X 39mm ( what else ?) that has the worst trigger I've ever used or owned on a rifle.

Do any of you guys know where I might find a replacement trigger housing group ? I've checked out the few online sales companies and the local 'smiths.

Do any of you know what a trigger job would cost ? I forgot to even ask the 'smiths around home. The usual trigger job out here is about $45. This will probably be what I'll have to do.

God bless you and good shooting.

If you go to the SKS Boards forum www.sksboards.com there is a guy called Kivaari www.mnmpublishing.com (Texas) who does SKS triggers. I am sure he will be able to help you.
He has a reputation for getting a crisp light (4 pound) trigger otherwise Ben Murray at www.murraysguns.com (Texas)
I had my trigger done out here in New Zealand last year by a professional gunsmith who got the trigger pull down to 3.7 pounds but don't let anyone talk you into doing it yourself as even the experts say they are a real pig to work on.
You may not be aware that the SKS has no return spring in the firing pin and that if the firing pin sticks in the forward position you could have a slam fire, doubling or worse full auto firing, Ben Murray has solved this problem with his own spring loaded firing pin. This doesn't require any gunsmithing to fit and is easily fitted by anyone who has enough knowhow to strip and re assemble their rifle.
I had mine glass bedded with trigger job and screw on muzzle brake fitted and action tweaked and now it's turning in 5 shot groups of just over one and a half inches at 100 yards.

THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH FOR YOUR INFORMATION. I LOVE MY LITTLE SKS BECAUSE, IN PART, IT IS THE ONLY ONE OF MY GUNS THAT MY WIFE BOUGHT ME FOR A CHRISTAMS PRESENT MANY YEARS AGO.

PERHAPS YOU'LL SHARE ANOTHER LITTLE TIDBIT WITH ME, MURRAY. WERE THOSE 1 1/2" GROUPS WITH OR WITHOUT A SCOPE ?

ALSO, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND A GOOD RECEIVER REPLACEMENT/SCOPE BASE TO REMAIN IN PLACE. I'VE TRIED TWO DIFFERENT ONES AND NEITHER ONE ALLOWS CONSISTENTLY SMALL GROUPS.THESE GROUPS ARE THE SAME AS FOR USING THE OPEN SIGHTS---ABOUT THREE INCHES, AVERAGE. dO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS /

THANKS FOR ANSWERING, SIR.
