Does anyone have any reports on the Marlin 983S, and/or the Remington Model Five .22 WMR?

I am trying to make a decision, but I have no idea how either of them performs. I am looking for the most accurate of the two.

I don't know how they would compare at the range but I can say that I own a model five in a .22 lr and it is great. I shoot federals out of it and I get pretty good groups at 50 yards. I would say that they are under an inch. Overall I really like this gun and I would suggest it to anyone looking for a good rimfire.

I agree! Best rifle for the money is the CZ's 452 or 453. I once had a Remington Model 5 but didn't like it. The stock was rather "Boxy" and it seemed too heavy for a rimfire rifle. It also wouldn't chamber CCI Mini-Mags. very well and it wouldn't extract live rounds of Mini-Mags, from the chamber. I had to use Super-X instead. The rifle was fairly accurate but not nearly as accurate as my CZ 452 CLASSIC.

I would definately agree with the CZ option; however, just a little out of my budget for one. I ended up getting the marlin. The model 5 sure felt nice though.

Tube mag and superior sights are what sold me on the marlin.

the only thing the marlins need is a trigger.....I'm not sure, but there may be somebody supplying a replacement trigger group nowdays....if so, get one, you won't be sorry.....
