Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette

Registered Users do not see the above ad.

I'm a Cowboy Lever action silhouette shooter - not the same as Cowboy Action Shooting - we shoot at metal targets from 40 to 200 yards with lever guns from .22LR to "deer rifle" cartridges.

When I lived in Arizona I could shoot every weekend - the sport was very popular there. Now I live in the middle of the US and matches are few and far between. "Yea, now that I'm retired they stopped shootn my matches."

I tried the web site with a map of silhouette ranges - the map is far out of date.

My quest is to collect the locations, web sites and general info about Lever Action Silhouette matches throughout the US (OK, I'm retired, I have time to work on this).

I'll post the results and maybe kick start a few of you into trying the sport. Gun goes "bang", target goes "clang" and falls over - instant feedback. Tube fed lever guns (or tube fed pump/semiauto .22s in Small Bore), three matches - Small Bore, Pistol Cartridge and Lever Action Silhouette (.32-20, .30-30, .45-70, etc).

If you know of a match tell me about it. I need location, name of club, web site, etc. I'll post my results.

Thanks,
M

Just saw your post

Pennsylvania is a hot bed for the game I fell in love with. I'm in Maryland, depending on the club it is a 2 to 8 hour drive. I save the long drive for three day championship matches.

Here is a list of the ranges that have Lever Action Silhouette - that I know of:
Tucson
Mesa
Ben Avery
Rio Salada
and one SW of Tucson- past Tombstone
And I recall there is one near Flafstaff
And many of us traveled to ranges in El Paso, and those in New Mexico

With a little drive time you can shoot CLA every weekend in Az.

A couple of mid-America matches

Topeka, Ks has a very nice range. they shoot all three matches in one day - Capital City Gun Club -- Topeka Kansas

Benton, Ar. has an equally nice range. They shoot the short line on Saturday and the long line on Sunday - Benton Gun Club "A Safe Place to Shoot"

I agree that Pennsylvania is the hot area for CLA - just a bit too far for me to drive. Anything in the western part of the state?

And, Memphis - why don't you have matches. Or, Louisville, or even my own state! And, we know why Chicago doesn't/wont/can't...

Thanks for the links.

Rio Salado has CAS matches, but I don't see Cowboy Lever Action Silhouette Matches on their web site currently.
