I just recently purchased one of these in 7mm. remington Mag. I would like any info I can get about these rifles; such as how they compare to other actions of their day and todays models. I fired a box of rounds through it and found that it is quite accurate. I had been having fits with my FN mouser in .264 win. mag; accuracy was not there and i've poured lots of $s into it to get it right. I'm not giving up on it but if I don't come up with some accurate reloads by fall I'm going elk hunting with the Browning. It is a bit heavy but the long barrel should give ultimate muzzle velocity. Also, the factory recoil pad works well; it's no shoulder buster. And I'll put up with the wieght 'cause it's so classy. Anyone's thought about any aspect of this rifle or experiences you have had will be appreciated.

Congratulations on an excellent purchase! I think you'll find yourself becoming more enamored with the rifle the longer you own it. I have 3 of the modern High Walls - one Browning and two Winchesters. One of the Winchesters, a High Wall Hunter in .270 WSM, is probably the most accurate rifle I've ever shot. And yes, you'll get some excellent velocity with that long barrel (and the rifle's overall length is still no longer than a 24 in barreled bolt gun). They get addictive; I stopped playing with bolt actions once I started down the 1885 path. :)

Thank's for the reply. I was shooting the cheapest ammo I could find which happened to be Federal power shock in 150gr. I'll get to do some experimenting later. I think 165 gr. bullets might be just the ticket for elk at any range. The rifle is just beautiful and flawless as I have come to expect from Browning.
