Hello to all,
Can anyone tell me if the early 1881 Marlins had a half cock safety built in? My 1881 (serial # 407) does not lock in at the half cock position and I don't know if it is supposed to. I asked my gunsmith and he said he didn't know. He will disassemble it and take a look but why spend the money if it never had a half cock.
Thank you
Stank

I nor YOU should NEVER TRUST "half-cock safety's" NEVER!!!

I was once almost shot point blank by my Minister who was using a 30/30 Marlin. The blast push my shirt out from my pants, my ears were ringing like the Bells of St. Mary's.

The barrel passed just 2 ft in front of my midsection and the bullet went into his truck, around through the back, causing it to bulge out the sheet metal, made a turn once again toward the front of the cab and ended up in the dash of the truck. We are still friends but I never again went shooting or hunting with this man.:(
