I was shown a 1894 Rifle serial number 73,XXX(1899) in .30WCF, 30 inch round barrel, full length Magazine,
3 leaf rear sight.
The owner claimed the round barrel is a bull barrel.
Reviewing Ranger44 sticky, From the Burt Hartman report at the top of this forum I don't see any breakdown
of rifle barrel's like Octagon, 1/2 Octagon Round....
So my question is:
Was there a heavy round barrel option?
And to further understand this when I see this gun owner again, what would the barrel OD be at the muzzle?
I made the recommendation that he send for the Cody Letter.

I have never seen a "heavy barrel" '94. I think photos would be your best bet to get any kind of an estimate of what exactly it is. Round barrel was the standard offering, but a 30" is a custom order. The "rifles" do have a slightly different barrel profile that is a bit thicker at the muzzle, perhaps that's what he's referring to.

So this owner was told that his Rifle serial No. 73,XXX is in the Antique Range.
Bert Hartman's Report in the sticky states: [Serial number 53,941 is the last “Antique” number]....
The serial number chart here:
49796 - 12-28-1898
49809 - 11-10-1898
49980 - 12-19-1898
50840 - 9-13-1899
50909 - 11-17-1898
***
54160 - 9-8-1899
59367 - 5-23-1899
59668 - 5-22-1899
53,941 falls in the gap, so what would be a reason for this number being The Last Antique Number?

That was my opinion also, but the owners expert(?) told him otherwise.

I've heard of the rare octogon bull barrel on an model 1876. If any of you watch/follow the YouTube channel "Cinnabar" he has a video on an 1876 in 50-95 with a bull barrel. I haven't ever heard of a round bull barrel on a 94. But that said, I am far from any sort of authority on the subject. Not to detract from this great forum, but I'll bet there are folks who can definitively answer that question hanging around on the WACA forum.

It was chambered in .22 rim fire short 😉
