I haven't purchased magazines for a full-size government in awhile and am looking for qualified opinions as to which mags are the ones to depend on if you really need it. Thanks in advance.

I like the Wilson ones. Have 4 of them 3 for compact one for full size. I like how easy they are to take apart. Bought some military surplus at a gun show and they work good.
I have used both McCormick and Wilson and prefer the Wilson follower to the one in the McCormicks. Just seems to be smoother. I can honestly say I have never had a misfeed with a Wilson, but have had a few with the McCormicks. All were used in the same pistol, a Taurus PT1911. The Wilson's I have used are the newer ETM 8 round ones.
For years (20) carried Chip McCormicks without issue this was for Concealed/Open Carry and ISPC. During the last 10 yrs was issued Wilson 8/10 rd 47D mags for my issued M1911/M1911A1 in Iraq. No issues with those either.

Another vote for Wilson here. They are the smoothest 1911 mags I have used. I've never had a magazine related issue with any Wilson mag and I own several of them.
Ed Brown and Wilson make the magazines I prefer.
There is only one magazine brand I use...Wilson mags. Try one out and youll see why.
Mec-Gar 8-round mags work just great in my Norinco...
